Does jogging help you lose weight? Yes it does but be careful

One of the fastest ways to lose weight is to go for a 20-minute jog. This was my first form of exercise that I actually enjoyed even as a kid. Just get some good music going and it feels like you can jog for miles. The reason for this is because jogging is very soothing and releases tons of stress. Does jogging help you lose weight? Jogging burns more calories than almost all forms of cardio exercise.

Go for a quick 15-20 minute jog

Jogging is great because its not intense running. It is actually quite refreshing once you get used to it. Because jogging is not so intense you can slow down your pace when you feel you need to. Of course if you are new to jogging then walking for warm-ups is a very good idea. You don’t want to turn yourself off to jogging by not warming up and thinking it might be too hard for you.

I went out for a jog in the rain today at the park and I had to walk for 4 minutes and then run for 30 seconds. I just was very tired and winded today so I had to make a healthy adjustment. I was able to enjoy the trees and the grass while listening to my favorite jazz music. I actually had fun while I was exercising.

When your feeling good then step up the pace.

There will be days when you have lots of extra energy and this is when you want to jog a little harder than usual. You can add intensity to your workout to burn more calorie by jogging a little faster. It is more like fast walking then and all out sprint or run. It is less pounding on the knees than running and almost feels like dancing while walking because of the music.

When I jog at the park I usually just figure I’m gonna circle the area about 4-5 times depending on the size of the park. I like to jog at the park because I feel safe enough to pick up the pace. I have tried jogging in the neighborhood but the traffic is way too dangerous and especially with headphones on.

You can jog up a hill once you get better at it.

If you really want sweat and lose weight then try jogging on an incline for more intensity. You can even try jogging up the football stadium bleachers for great fun. If there is a high school nearby then check out the football field for stairs. this is really fun when you go with a friend or family member. Believe it or not the kids love doing this with you. It is just really challenging and there is something fun about climbing those bleachers.

Wear the proper shoes and clothes when jogging.

Feeling comfortable and safe while jogging is definetly a must. I recommend wearing good quality running shoes like New Balance or Adidas. I tried to jog in Vans shoes once I came home with the biggest blister on my heel.  So make sure you wear running shoes while jogging and nothing else if possible.

Loose fitting clothing like sweat pants and a t shirt is what i like to wear. Don’t wear your good t shirts jogging because you will ruin them from sweating too much. Its always smart to have a sweat towel and a water bottle and sometimes a fanny pack to keep your keys safe.

Be prepared for traffic and loose dogs or wild animals.

I say this because just today while I was jogging at the park one of the ladies had a big dog on the leash. Every time I passed her I noticed the dog was getting restless. So I made an adjustment and ran on the other side of the park just in case she couldn’t contain the dog. I want to lose weight but not at the price of getting bitten ny a big dog like that. So be aware of people walking their dogs and other animals like coyotes. Even carrying a small bottle of pepper spray is a great idea to keep in your fanny pack just in case. I happened to have a pink one that is key chained to my keys. I decided to get a bright pink so in case of an emergency I will be able to see it and use it effectively.

Always try to Jog with a partner or out in the open.

Again I want to lose weight really bad but I don’t want to put myself in danger by jogging in the forest trail. I believe in safety first and the best thing to do is the buddy system This why I like your neighborhood park for jogging. There are probably others there jogging too and they will see you out in the open if something bad did happen.

Jogging works really good when you do it every day.

Does jogging help you lose weight? Yes it does. I have a friend who only jogs for 20 minutes a day and only does push-ups and sit ups. He does it every day and his work out only last 30 minutes. Because he is so consistent and dedicated to his work outs. He looks about 10 years younger than he really is. He sweats every day and uses jogging as his mental and physical therapy. He is always in a great mood because daily exercise makes you more tired at night and thus he gets more quality sleep. So if you want to lose weight and feel great mentally at the same time then jogging is perfect for you.
